"Shaun of the Dead" Returns to silver screen for 20th Anniversary Celebration
Cinema fans rejoice! Classic British film set to be shown again in the Cinema since 2004!
In a development sure to thrill British comedy and zombie movie fans alike, "Shaun of the Dead" is due to make its way back into theaters this September to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Helmed by Edgar Wright and co-written by Wright and Simon Pegg, the original premiered in 2004 and seemed to gather a strong following quite quickly for its special brand of hilarity, horrors, and heartfelt drama.
"Shaun of the Dead" stars Simon Pegg as the title character, a loser salesperson whose life is on a downward slide and who must work out a way to rescue his loved ones—mother, girlfriend, and best friend Ed, played by Nick Frost—with whom he finds himself embroiled in a full-blown zombie uprising. Satire, farce, and genuine scares are very ably melted into this hybrid comedy-horror genre.
In celebration of the release of the 20th anniversary edition, a specially remastered version will bring more refined picture and sound qualities to the big screen. Fans can once again join in with the iconic scenes—in sharp detail—such as "Don't Stop Me Now" or cricket bat-wielding confrontations with zombies. These selected screenings will include special added value for each feature, with behind-the-scenes footage and an on-camera Q&A with cast and crew, making this event a nostalgic throwback for longtime fans and an exhilarating first look for new viewers.
Director Edgar Wright added, "It's amazing to think that 'Shaun of the Dead' will be 20 years old. We made the film with great love and lots of laughs, and it is just astonishing that it still does the trick for people today. We hope fans will enjoy seeing it on the big screen again, or for the first time, as much as we enjoyed making it."
Tickets for 20th-anniversary screenings of "Shaun of the Dead" will go on sale later this month, with major cities globally confirmed to date. Fans are being encouraged to snap up tickets early, as this limited run promises to be the hottest ticket around for those looking to get a relived experience of the "rom-zom-com" classic.
With fans gearing up for a long-overdue reunion with Shaun, Ed, and the rest of the mob down at The Winchester, such a re-release shall befittingly pay tribute to a film that has wormed its way into the hearts of so many as part of modern cinema history. This will be a great opportunity to view "Shaun of the Dead" on the big screen once more and get together to laugh, scream, and jam to Queen with the best of them.
